Abstract

This study examines the role of health education in improving routine immunization uptake among caregivers attending immunization sessions in Gombe State, Nigeria. It explores how the knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions of caregivers are influenced by health education interventions delivered at health facilities. By assessing the relationship between exposure to health education and immunization compliance, the study aims to identify key factors that enhance or hinder vaccine uptake. The findings are expected to inform strategies for strengthening immunization programs, improving caregiver engagement, and ultimately increasing vaccination coverage in the region.

Abstract

A retrospective epidemiological review of surveillance data from 2017–2023 across 27 Local Government Areas in Imo State, Nigeria. Of 231 suspected cases analysed, 21.2% (49) were confirmed positive with a case fatality rate of 8%. The investigation revealed geographic clustering, with eight districts accounting for 71% of suspected cases despite representing only 32% of the population.
